2007 brings with it many things but one of those things will be the year I get married to the mighty fine Michelle!
Up unto this point I've not really thought too much about the wedding - it was a conscious decision I suppose. It made sense to me to wait until the new year so then I could really get to grips with what I need to prepare and organise.
My jobs for the wedding are as follows:
- to organise what music we will have
- to book the cars
- to book the honeymoon
...and I think that is it... do you think I've got a good deal there? I mean obviously there is lots of stuff to do together...such as guest lists and booking venues and stuff, but my personal list of things to do is pleasantly short methinks.
Anyway, there's wedding blog number 1.

I think you'll find that the joint task list more than makes up for the perceived lack of individual jobs you have.
Oh, and are you wearing suits? cos surely you'll have to find those too.
Ha! Ha! You think you have a short list! There will be much more for you to do. You appear to have a short list but there will be surprises along the way. Phil has mentioned the suits not just for you but for your best man and ushers too. Have you thought about your visit to your local registrar to get your notice of marriage? You will then need to see the registrar in the area of the church you are getting married and have a reason why you are getting married there too, especially if its in a place where you don't live and it isn't your regular place of worship! Rings? Thank you pressies? Honeymoon, cost cutting tip...RCI points! I could go on! It's good fun!
Heh, see the smug marrieds come out in force to mock the unsuspecting uninitiated!
I was just going to say pretty much what the other guys did, and just to add that another job of yours will be to agree with a heck of a lot of what is suggested to you...
Happy New Year Matt and Chell!
HI Matt and Happy New Year! It's so long since we got married that I really can't remember what Keith organised and I'm pretty sure he can't either. Fact is though, we are still going strong and on the day, I didn't even notice what the weather was like until we arrived at the venue, I was so excited!
This is probably happening already, but people will ask you daft questions though, like - Are you looking forward to getting married?
Smile, answer how you feel led and WALK AWAY!!
Shawn, you've just brought back terrible panic stricken memories for me. Matt and I forgot to apply for our permission to marry certificate at the council registry office. Luckily we found out just in time and were able to collect our marriage permission slip thingys the day before the wedding.
Just so you know, the registry office is in the main council building in town opposite the library. Chell will have to apply for her certificate in her local birth, deaths and marriages office. Hope that helps!
Of course, if you're getting married in a C of E church, you don't have to register at the council office, but you do have to get your banns read.
The way I see it you've got 3 things on your list - you've made that quite clear - surely if it's not on the list it's not your responsibility!? Ah just relax - you've got ages :)
Matt, that's only the obvious list, surely you also have to take care of the list that Michelle just assumes you're taking care of?
Wow!
You see Matt, this is why, when I have a short list of jobs, I keep it to myself. He who announces no jobbage will receive jobbage. There's always more jobbage.
Hey man, if you want me to rap at your wedding, please let me know asap as I tend to get booked up pretty quickly! : )
